Re: ESC & Motor Combos - 1/8 Buggy
I've got an mbx6e (tekno conversion) on its way to me. I mainly got it to fill in some time between MT rounds at the nats but after driving one, i think i might like it more then i expected I'll be running a castle MMM / Neu 2200 combo that i got for a truggy conversion, but as theres not many e truggys round yet (racing anyway), that project is on the back burner.

I think the electric 1/8 is a great class that is really easy to setup and in my experience very reliable. I like that you can put the battery in and go. Rc8 + conversion Mamba monster Tekin 1900kv Turnigy 4500 4s Elite motor mount 20/46 gearing

For sure, love to plug and play on race day But I have to admit, as much as i feel at home with the sound and smell of nitro in the air (cut my teeth riding 2 stroke mx) i couldn't be bothered with the headaches. "the tune" is what i listen to in my car on the way home, not what i spend all day chasing.

Corey - What sort of run time are you getting out of the 4500's on the LRRCCC track?

Cheers Corey, trying to weigh up if 4000 will be enough.

Re: ESC & Motor Combos - 1/8 Buggy
I think it will be a little low at 4000 as you look like you will be running the 2200kv.The higher the kv the lower the runtime. It is a juggling act .You first decide on the voltage you want to use .In most cases it is 14.8 as it is easier to get hardcase for racing. Then you need to work out how many kv will get you the motor speed you need to get somewhere in the ballpark of the nitro motor. The catch is if you go to high and sometimes to low problems can arise . It seems 14.8v seems to need between 1800 and 2200 to get reasonable run time and speed. You are at the high end so you will have awesome motor speed but lower run time. As you have your gear all sorted you wont know till you try .You are more than welcome to drop in to a race and you can try one of my 4500mah and see how long you get.

Re: ESC & Motor Combos - 1/8 Buggy
Thanks corey, I think it may be possible with a more efficient set up but as you say the 2200 is a pretty power hungry donk so might be safer to go for a 4500 or 5000.
